| John Mackay | Chief Executive Officer ActewAGL GPO Box 366, Canberra City ACT 2601 Tel: 131 493 Email: actew.exec@actewagl.com.au |
John Mackay as CEO of ActewAGL stated his company's intentions to install wind turbines on Spring Range. He has subsequently abandoned this project. Spring Range acknowlegdes Actew's need to comply with Federal Mandatory Renewable Energy (MRET) targets. We would like to advise John of the concerns of Spring Range and to request he balance Actew's corporate needs with consideration of community interests when selecting sites. |
| Senator Bob McMullan MP | Federal Member for Fraser Location 51 Northbourne Avenue Canberra City Postal Address: GPO Box 1947 ACT 2601 Tel: 02 6247 4396 or 02 6247 4037 Facsimile 02 6247 3457 Bob.McMullan.MP@aph.gov.au |
Bob is the Federal ALP member for Fraser. The electorate covers the ACT, including Gungahlin and Belconnen which would be in the area affected if wind turbines were installed on Spring Range. For Gungahlin fire risk would be heightened because it is downwind of the prevailing westerly. We would like Bob to record his views on any proposed development and listen to advice he may offer. |

Jon is Chief Minister for the ACT Labor Government in the ACT. The ACT Government is a 50% stakeholder in ActewAGL the company which planned to install wind turbines on Spring Range. If the plan had proceeded Gungahlin would have been in the zone affected, carried heightened fire risk, and incurred visual impact. |

Alby Schultz is Liberal Federal Member for Hume. The electorate covers the area immediately north of the ACT. Alby has responded to letters written outlining government energy policies and has referred to government actions:
AUSWEA is the association of wind energy representing mainly developers. Spring Range has concerns that Government funding of the wind industry's view of "best practices" is not balanced by the Australian community's view of "best practices". |

| Katrina Hodgkinson MLA |
133 Comur Street, Yass NSW 2582 Tel 02-6226 3311 Email: burrinjuck@parliament.nsw.gov.au |
Katrina is the Nationals member for burrinjuck in the NSW parliament. Spring range is in her electorate. She is on record as stating that the process by which wind turbines developments are approved is flawed. As shadow minister for tourism in the Parliament she is in a position to advise the Minister for Planning, Frank Sartor of community views and to question development approval decisions by the NSW Department of planning. She has a record of supporting the local community on the issue both by attendance at local meetings and by her representations to the Parliament. |

He is able to rule on issues where the development triggers assessment under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act for matters which are defined as matters of environmental significance. These issues include, wetlands of international importance, listed migratory species and nationally listed threatened species. His predecessor in his portfolio, Senator Ian Campbell is on record as expressing in principle his opposition to wind plant developments proceeding in the face of clear local opposition expressed through votes of shires of councils. Malcolm's has yet to endorsed this position. |

Yass Council has listened to Spring Range views, and is aware of the effects of turbine developments on local communities. We would like their support excluding turbine installations from residential areas |
